Door knocker with backplate

Central Europe, mid-18th century

Malleable iron. Square bar bent into Flemish scrolls, with a head wearing a plume serving as the hammer. Pierced backplate of cartouches and acanthus leaves. Wrought, pierced plate forged to the ring mount. Decorated with grooving.
